Blast from the Past

Today, Matt & I have been married for six whole calendar months. Marriage is great. I highly recommend it.

Married life is even better now that I get to see my husband for pretty much the same amount of time every day, with bonus time on the weekends. There’s finally enough time to share all our stories from our times apart and then have additional conversation about other things going on in the world and in our marriage. It’s bliss.

I’m starting to feel motivated to accomplish things in life again. I’m working on a craft project in preparation for Christmas and I’ve even started reading for my own benefit and enjoyment.

The current 6-month plan:

Personal Goals
*finish said book
*work on scrapbooks (currently: high school; college; “before”, “during” and “after” wedding albums)

Marriage Goals
*job for Matt
*house (or at least a start to the house hunt)
*trip to Disney World
*family expansion

A Thought for Advent

Have you mailed your Christmas cards yet? No? Well, don’t. Not yet at least. Allow me to explain…
Advent started this past Sunday (November 28) and continues on into December 24, the later part of which kicks off the Christmas season. Christmas continues until the Baptism of the Lord which this liturgical year occurs on January 9.
So, in keeping with the liturgical calendar and not the retail calendar, I’d like to invite anyone who happens upon this blog to wait until Christmas to send Christmas cards. In the mean time, send advent cards and make good use of this time of waiting and preparation.

A Couple of Important Things

Today I have good news and I have bad news…

The bad news: Matt has officially had it up to here *stretches WAY UP HIGH* with Burger King, so he has put in his two-weeks notice. Say some prayers that things will take a turn for the better for him on his quest for a job actually using his education and also on writing his Masters Thesis.

The good news: Tomorrow, on the Feast of Christ the King, the last Sunday of the liturgical year, we will celebrate Matt’s Rite of Welcome for RCIA. The Rite will take place during the 10:30 Mass at St. Matthias, where we were married back in June. If you’re in the area, do feel free to stop by. Call, email, or IM if you need more details.

8 Days Until Black Friday

For the first time since I graduated college, I do NOT have to work on the day after Thanksgiving. Poor Matt, however, does. I guess it’s his turn. Hopefully he won’t have to do it two years in a row… and fortunately for him, he doesn’t have to work for the Evil Empire. He only works for one of the major companies intent on Making Children Fat. A far less evil, if you ask me. (note the dripping sarcasm)
Dinka pointed out the nearness of the Christmas Shopping Season here. Since Veronika is one of the coolest babies on the web, I thought Matt & I could be a bit more like her… so if you feel inclined to buy us presents, and then create a spiderweb with colored string and tie said presents to the ends of the strings, I’ve added our Amazon.com wishlists to the links on the side.

In other news, Amanda told me last week that she’ll no longer be updating Litzymonkey.com so I’ve removed the link from the side. Maybe someday the monkey will be back. I hope so.

More Suspense than the Presidential Election…

Pansy Moss of Two Sleepy Mommies has a new baby boy. Word is out that he arrived today, but still no news on his name. I could care less who gets to be president in January… I just want to know this little boy’s name!
