Have I used ! enough on this blog lately? Our counter offer was accepted. Tomorrow or Friday at the latest we have to sit down with our realtor & go over all the adendums & get the sales agreement all squared away. We also have to get started on our mortgage application. Then, we’ll have to get all the inspections done. Assuming everything goes well & there are no hidden surprises, it looks like we’re well on track to close on April 28.
The Bank has decided to let us have first shot at the house. They made us a counter offer which, after doing some math, we decided to counter ourselves. Now, we wait. If they accept our counter offer (which I’m pretty sure that they will, it’s a pretty good compromise, IMO), we’ll immediately start our mortgage application process and we’ll have 10 days to get all our inspections done. The 10 days for the inspections is part of their counter offer & we’re OK with it. Honestly, I’d like to get this whole ordeal over and done with ASAP. The quicker we do the inspections & get moving on everything else, the quicker the house will be ours. Scary, isn’t it?? :)
Our offer wasn’t accepted or rejected. “The Bank” had a second offer on the house. As near as I can tell, neither of us offered what they were asking, so they wanted us to come up with our best offer. We’re offering higher than we wanted to originally, but all that really means is that if any of the inspections come back with something really wrong we’ll walk away. Matt’s going to call our realtor later this morning & give him the details of what we want to offer. Then, we wait again.
We met with our realtor last night & wrote up our offer. I forgot to take the check book, so I have to fax a copy of our hand money check this morning when I get in to work, then our realtor will send everything over to the other realtor & we’ll wait. In the offer, we said we wanted an answer by Thursday. If they accept & everything goes well, we’ll close on April 28.
We’re meeting with our realtor tonight to make an offer on a house. No pictures yet, but if/as soon as it’s ours you can bet there will be more pictures than you’d ever want to see :)
The house is in a good, central location for both of our jobs. It’s a bank repo, so pray that the only things that fail the house inspection are the things we already know about.
It used to be a 2 bedroom, 2 bath ranch with a two-car garage, kitchen, living room, dining room and tiny extra room. Now, it’s a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath ranch with office, game room, kitchen, living room, dining room and tiny extra room. We really can’t figure out what the extra room is for except that it connects the living room to the dining room.
