Pretty Dresses

This one is for Anne Shirley. Recently, she blogged about how sad it is that we missed some really cute fashion trends. She actually linked to a cute dress that is similar-ish to two that I bought this spring and I told her I had pictures of them, so here they are. They’re not the greatest and they’re not full-length shots, but I’ll work on that. I try to find as many chances as I can to wear them.

Scrapbook Explosion

I’ve been scrapbookin like a fiend since I started my new work schedule. It’s been great. I actually began a new project AND finished it in the past month. I’m also caught up on scrapbooking all the weddings Matt & I have been to. I created a page to help me track my progress and not get too sidetracked. My goal is to keep up with my most recently developed film and work backwards from there. I *should* be scrapbooking our first anniversary, but I have to drop that film off and get it developed. The same goes for our Disney Vacation. I still need a few pictures developed from that trip. Since I can’t work on the really recent stuff yet, I’m back to the 2005 March for Life.

I’m It!

I’ve been tagged by Philothea Rose

I’d like to tag the Two Sleepy Mommies, Anne Shirley and Funky Dung

Here’s the game:
List five things that people in your circle of friends or peer group are wild about, but you can’t really understand the fuss over.

1. Cell phones with cameras. Are they really that great? I can’t imagine that the picture quality is anything to write home about, so why does everyone seem to want/have one?
2. Digital cameras for still pictures. I’m a firm believer that a quality film print will run circles around digital images any day. It seems to me that I’ve seen people take more “mistake” pictures with their digital contraptions than I tend to get on a standard roll of 35mm film.
3. Body hair (esp. eyebrows) waxing. One word: OUCH!!
4. Text messages. Again with the cell phones… Why do people waste their time typing out messages on the annoyingly small keypads of their cell phones??? If you ask me, it’s easier to dial a phone number to deliver a message.
5. Pilates. That stuff is HARD!

Amy Is My Godmother

This past weekend I got elected. Or became a member of the elect. Or I had my rite of election. Whichever way you’d wish to say it, I went down (up?) to Erie and participated in the rite of election with all the other candidates and catechumen. Hopefully at least one of them is comfortable with their ability to spell that word. It was a pretty awe-inspiring event, as tons of people were there to take yet another step on their journey towards becoming Catholic.

While I can’t remember his exact words, Bishop Trautman was immensely welcoming. His words and tone, and they way he looked at me just radiated a sense of welcome and was filled with total genuiness (which may or may not be a word). It was such a wonderful feeling, and you should all go out and experience it right now. Or maybe next year. Either way, it made me feel like this was absolutely the right path for me to be on.

I also find it tremendously amusing that Amy is my godparent, just because I can imagine having that conversation with our future children. Let the good times roll.

Five More Days

Only five more days until the 9th anniversary of an event that forever changed my life. I won’t write the details here to protect those involved, but if you think about it, say a prayer for me and for my friend on the 20th.

On a lighter note, Number 1 cousin turns 21 that same day. I’m proud of him. Number 2 cousin turns 16 on the 24th. I’m proud of her, too. The list of birthdays wouldn’t be complete without Number 3 cousin’s birthday right in the middle on the 22nd. And you guessed it, I’m proud of her.

While we’re talking about birthdays and anniversaries, today marks 27 years for my sister-in-law, 24 for Mr. S. and 2 years of wedded bliss for Mr. & Mrs. H.
