Dashing Through the Snow

We went out last night in a snowstorm to get a Christmas ornament and some pens. While the Christmas ornament was the driving force behind the expedition, the pens were the driving force behind actually bothering to go out. I totally forgot how utterly horrible Pennsylvania and its counties and townships were at actually handling snow. It was a very snow-covered, heavy snow situation until we got to I-80, where it was a not quite as snow-cevered-since-I-can-see-tire-lanes, heavy snow situation that got worse until about 3 miles after the Mercer exit, where the road was very suddenly clear and merely wet. I don’t know if it was that my car has awesome traction (it’s very light, so it’s more prone to sliding or being tossed by wind, so I doubt that) or if I’m just a decent snow driver thanks to Rochester, but the car handled fine and it was all good times.

Well, Kraynaks (which is a bizarrely amusing store) didn’t seem to have a “first Chistmas” ornament that wasn’t completely fugly or that didn’t have paint chipping off of it. But I got pens! Which aren’t as exciting, but I really needed them. the pens we didn’t get at Kraynaks. Those just magically appeared to me when a beggar stepped out of mid-air and suggested I buy them cheap. His name was Pat Catan.
