Wedding Madness
Mr. B & I have attended 4 weddings together in our not-quite-five years of happy coupledom. That’s not counting our own. In the past two weeks or so we’ve bee invited to THREE more. And Mr. B. suspects that we’ll be receiving at least one more in the near future. Assuming he’s right, that’ll bring our total number of weddings attended to EIGHT by the end of October. That also means that five of those weddings occured/will occur this calendar year.
Also, apparently that old myth that it’s popular to get married in the summer is wrong. Our wedding count includes 1 in February, 1 in April (though it might as well have been March), 2 in May, 1 in September, and 2 maybe 3 in October. The September wedding is the only one that is actually happening during summer… and yet the bride & groom seem to think they’re getting married in the fall. In my twisted little head, this is hillarious.

I managed to accidentally go to a wedding I wasn’t invited to. The couple just decided that they wanted their wedding in a public church full of tourists in Nuremberg. I walked in just expecting to see an old church and then I heard the organ and the priest walked up the aisle with the bridal party following suit.
What a random country….
Every church is a public church. It’s just that the prettier ones attract tourists. There were tourists all over the place when I was at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NY, though I can’t say I actually noticed them as much during Mass.
I accidentally walked in a on a funeral, in that theme. I went to Westminster Cathedral (the heart of the Catholic Church in England) for a lunchtime think (it’s near where I work). I saw a big car outside and for some reason didn’t register it was a hearse. Then I realised what was going on. Oops. There were tourists in there too, which didn’t seem quite right, but they were respectful, so that’s ok. I just went to one of the side chapels – handy in a cathedral!
I sometimes have trouble just driving past churches around here when there’s a big black car out front… some of the hearses look a LOT like your average limo so I can never tell if it’s a wedding or a funeral unless I see the expressions on people’s faces when they come out of the church.
How wonderful, though, to have a cathedral so handy to where you work :)
